Balayage

Balayage is a French word meaning to sweep or to paint. In a hair salon like Highland Salon and Medi Spa in Maple Ridge however, the word has become a way of life…

The Balayage hair colouring technique involves hand painting hair, in a sweeping motion with a brush. This allows for a sun-kissed, natural looking hair colour, similar to what nature gives us as children.  Another technique utilised to achieve the look of Balayage is with “foilayage” which allows us to get a better lift of colour.

As opposed to traditional highlights, the Balayage hair technique uses no foils and the colour is applied on freehand.  The result is a lot less uniform than a highlighted hair but that is the intention, to make it look more natural with less contrast between colours.

Getting your Balayage hair colour is an investment – not just in the look you want, but the quality of the service you will be receiving.
